Emily’s Great Accomplishment of the Day
It may not sound like a great accomplishment to you, but it is a great accomplishment to me. I finally got through my writer’s block/semi-paralysis and finished my cover letter and resume. Granted, the application database was very confusing and the formatting of my resume, through the database, got messed up and the cover letter got attached – yet there was a step for cutting and pasting a cover letter. I am not going to beat myself up for not calling for help – because I admit that I was too exhausted and proud to call them for help. Next time, I will do it. Now that I have gotten through my semi-paralysis and writer’s block, the next step of writing better cover letters and formatting my resume according to the confines of the potential employer’s database dialogue box seems a lot easier.
This job was advertised about a month ago. I won’t be surprised if it has been filled already and I don’t think that my qualifications are the best match – so this is good practice.
How did the writer’s block happen? I have been focusing primarily on taking care of my academic requirements and it has been difficult balancing searching for jobs. If I put too much pressure on myself to find something before I graduate, it will be hard for me to attend to my academic obligations, which are my primary concerns.
A year from today, I wonder how I will feel when I read this.
I have to admit that I am pretty content with my current situation. Phillippians 4:11. Why induce a heart attack because we are in a recession? Isn’t that why peanut butter exists? ![]()
